New Years 2010 Resolutions {Short}

Leaves some things out.
  • Go to the dentist. I haven't gone to a dentist since a student at NYU pulled my two (yes, just two) wisdom teeth out. Since MIT's extended insurance does not include any dental coverage, and my Medicaid coverage expired when I came to college, I've sort of just... let it slip. I've never had a cavity in my life, but maybe that was just because of the fluoride in NYC's tap water?!
  • Become a better (verbal) storyteller. Now that I'm old enough to learn more about how the world really works, I realize that, if I'm going to thrive out there, I need to become a good storyteller. I mean life stories, not fictional stories. With this skill, I'll be in a better position to

    • Articulate what I want/need --->; Get what I want/need.
    • Influence others.
    • Impress others.
    • Make friends.
    Lest I sound like a power-hungry maniac, let me tell you something, dear readers who probably don't know me. I'd like to think of this as just leveling the playing field -- where I am catching up. I'm what's known as a "good listener;" I don't talk much. I tend not to say anything unless it's actually necessary, and I think a lot before I speak; so, I'm not that great at telling stories, even though I'm sure I'd have plenty to tell, if only I could put them into words. But in general, I'm sick of more charismatic blabbermouths hogging the spotlight.

  • Master the skills I have. Sorry to be crude, but no half-assing anything!
  • Open a savings account. Time to start building a cushy money base. The bank/credit union I'd do this with depends on where I end up after I graduate in June.
